How to complete the domain contact validation for a new domain name? Print

  • 0

When you register a new domain through Provider.lk, the domain may require registrant contact validation. This is a mandatory confirmation process required by the domain registrar to verify the contact information of the domain holder.

After your domain is registered, a validation email will be sent to the email address provided during the domain registration. You must complete this validation process before the domain can function normally.

What Email Will I Receive?

The validation email will be sent with a subject similar to:

"Please confirm your contact details for [domain name]"

The email will explain that the domain requires confirmation by the domain name holder and will provide a link to the registrar's validation page.

The email will also display the contact details currently registered for the domain, including information such as:

  • Name
  • Organization
  • Address
  • City
  • Postal Code
  • State/Province
  • Country
  • Phone number
  • Email address

Please review these details carefully.

What Do I Need to Do After Receiving the Email?

Follow the link provided in the validation email.

You will be taken to a page titled: Confirm your contact details

You will then need to complete the following:

1. Review your contact information

Check the information displayed on the page and make sure your registered details are correct.

2. Confirm that the information is true

Tick the checkbox: I declare the information above is true.

3. Accept the required terms

Under Required terms, accept: General: Terms and conditions

This is required to complete the validation.

4. Select "Approve"

Under the approval section, select: Approve

5. Click "Submit"

Click Submit to send your confirmation to the registrar. You should then see a confirmation page indicating: Thank you and that your response will be processed.

What Happens If I Don't Complete the Validation?

If the registrant contact validation is not completed, the domain will remain pending validation and your website will not be accessible normally.

When you visit the domain, you may see a page similar to:

"[your domain name] pending validation
The registrant details for [your domain name] have not been validated yet. If you are the registrant, please check your email for instructions on how to validate and activate your domain."

Important: Even if you have already changed your nameservers to the correct ones, the domain may still show the pending validation page until the registrant contact validation is completed.

If you check the domain's DNS or nameserver records, you may also see:

suspension1.mydomainprovider.com
suspension2.mydomainprovider.com

These are the nameservers associated with the registrar's suspension and are not the page that appears when you visit the website.

Therefore: Correct nameservers + Contact validation pending = Domain may still show the pending validation page

What If I Have Not Received the Validation Email?

If you have not received the validation email, please check your Inbox and Spam/Junk folders for an email with the subject:

"Please confirm your contact details for [domain name]"

If you still cannot find the email, please open a support ticket with our Sales & Billing Department or email [email protected] with your domain name and request that the validation email be resent.

After Completing the Validation

Once you have submitted the validation, the registrar needs to process the confirmation.

If you have also changed your nameservers, please allow at least 6 hours for DNS propagation before checking your website again.

Please do not repeatedly change your nameservers while waiting for the validation to take effect. If your nameservers are already correct, allow the required time for the validation and DNS changes to propagate.
