Provider.lk offers two DNS management options depending on your requirements. This Knowledgebase article explains the differences between them, when to use each option, and how to activate them correctly.
Overview of DNS Options
There are two DNS services available:
1. DNS Hosting (Basic DNS Management)
A standard DNS service used to manage domain records such as A, CNAME, MX, and TXT.
- Simple and easy to use
- Suitable for basic websites and email configurations
- Does not include advanced performance features
2. Cloud DNS Hosting (Powered by Cloudflare)
An advanced DNS solution powered by Cloudflare for improved performance and reliability.
- Faster global DNS resolution
- Higher reliability and uptime
- Managed via Cloud DNS Manager in your client area
- Recommended for better speed and stability
Option 1: DNS Hosting
How to Purchase DNS Hosting
- Log in to your Provider.lk Client Area
- Go to Categories
- Select Cloud DNS
- Click on DNS Hosting
- Complete the purchase
Once purchased, you can start managing your DNS records.

Option 2: Cloud DNS Hosting (Cloudflare)
How to Purchase Cloudflare DNS Hosting
- Log in to your Provider.lk Client Area
- Go to Domains → Select your domain
- Go to Addons under the “Manage” section in the left navigation bar.
- Click on Cloud DNS Hosting (Cloudflare)
- Complete the purchase

Important Note
For many TLD's domains (especially .lk domains):
- Cloud DNS Hosting (Cloudflare) already available in your Client Area
- You may not need to purchase it separately from the store
