How to use Cloud DNS hosting?

After purchasing a DNS Hosting service from Provider.lk, please follow these steps to ensure your domain works correctly:

1. Update the Domain’s Nameservers

You must first point your domain to Provider.lk’s DNS servers. This is done through the domain registrar's control panel.

Use the following nameservers exactly as shown:

  • ns1.provider.lk
  • ns2.provider.lk
  • ns3.provider.lk
  • ns4.provider.lk

If the domain is not pointed correctly, your DNS records will not work. This means services like your website or email may stay offline.

2. Add or Manage DNS Records

Once nameservers have been updated and DNS changes have propagated, you can manage your DNS records via the Provider.lk client area.

Common DNS records include:

  • A Record – Points your domain to a specific IP address

  • MX Record – Routes emails to your mail server

  • CNAME Record – Maps subdomains to other domains

  • TXT Record – Used for verification, SPF, DKIM, etc.

You’ll receive an automated email with DNS settings after purchase. If not, let us know and we’ll send it manually.

3. Allow Time for DNS Propagation

DNS changes take time to update across the internet. This can take up to 24–48 hours. During this time, your services may be unstable or inaccessible.

To check DNS propagation, you can use:

4. Still Not Working After 48 Hours?

If DNS changes are still not working after 48 hours, please open a technical support ticket with us. We’ll review and assist you further to resolve the issue.
